have some fun....yearbook yourself
it was our month to host supperclub so we had it this past saturday night- 22 people!! thank goodness it didn't rain ;) we decided to make it a theme so it was "bring your high school yearbook"- so fun & lots of laughs! how we all thought we were so cool when we were eighteen years old!
my friend at work told me about this great website called "yearbook yourself". i had never heard of it but i checked it out and had a blast creating funny "school pictures". you can log on & paste a face into the hair style of your choice- male or female. the choices go from the 1950's to 2000. see below for some of the faces of the evening! if you have never done it i highly suggest you do because it is hilarious! scroll down below to see our night of fun & laughs!

end of summer catch up
the summer has come to an end and we had a blast! it was nice being at home for the last month & not traveling. we had lots of events on the weekends- below are just a few highlights!
diving in....yes he was flying high! into the pool at Pierce's bday party.....he was the only child jumping in and making a huge splash! but that is what makes him so fun!!

saying goodbye to our favorite babysitter Caroline! we will miss you sooo much!
cookout at tyler & harper's house- we actually got them all to sit still
henry scores his first kiss from harper!!!!
at the pool with Pierce for the last weekend. this was our usual spot most of the weekends.
daddy let henry help with the mow mow. he is now definitely obsessed. when you ask henry where daddy is his response will either be "golf" or "mow mow".....hhhmmm

SamDaddy
This past Tuesday the whole family (well, Jeff was in Seattle but there in spirit) suprised Sam by attending his suprise 40 year celebration at Parker Poe. It was fabulous and the firm did such a great job pulling it all together to honor Sam's dedication to the firm for FORTY years!
It was such a gift for me- and I love when that happens. You go thinking you are going to be there to make someone's day special and the blessings are showered on you as well. I had not been to Sam's office and it was so fun to ride with Hen and Goose in the big elevator and look out the windows (from the 31st floor)!
To me I was honored to stand up there and be part of Sam's family. It was a common theme by the partners who made remarks (Hank Hankins, Bill Farthing and Bill Porter) that Sam is passionate about his work and his family...and maybe some golf. They honored him with their words and it was incredible to realize that I am related to a man that has not only made a mark on Charlotte in his professional endeavors but is leaving a legacy to the generations ahead that family is important. His loyalty, ethics, persistance and passion for the law are held in high regard and I was and am so proud of him.

alone time

brett has a meeting tonight so it was just me & my little man & some good old chic-fil-a! i picked him up from school & asked him if he wanted chic-fil-a or a quesadilla- thinking that he would just nod his head- but he actually said "chic-lay"! we had a great night & just really enjoyed hanging out together- especially after it being a long day at work. a lot of times when we get home from work/school it is kind of a fight & constant battle- to listen, to eat, not to whine, etc etc. But tonight we both just had a really good time together- talking, laughing & just doing the normal after school things.
after we got his bath he told me he wanted to watch george so we snuggled on the sofa together for 30 mins and caught up on an episode. i was sitting there watching him & just thinking about how much he has grown up so fast right before my eyes. almost 21 months has passed. i feel like just yesterday i was laying on the sofa with his little 6 pound body on me.
we can actually have a conversation now- i mean, maybe you wouldn't understand that "seees" means "keys" but i am starting to get the jist of all of his vocabulary. when people ask me "how is henry doing"- and usually my response is "he is crazy/wild"- but the truth is he is SO MUCH FUN. he makes laugh & smile so many times during the day. he knows how to forgive me in a matter of 2.2 seconds. he knows how to give the biggest squeeze (hug). he knows that he has to have at least 3 kisses before going night night, along with a kiss on both hands. he knows lucy's house every single time we pass by it. he knows that his bubby (paci) will just make him feel all better when he gets the slightest boo-boo.
nights like tonight remind me how thankful i should be- every moment of every day. i get wrapped up in the "to do's" in life & checking off my list. times like tonight are ones i want to look back on & remember....but remember that i had a lot of nights like this- just enjoying our time together and not worrying about the laundry, lunches to make, or exercise to do.
he fills my heart & makes me so proud. for example-when he just tries to say the blessing (only a word or two)- or the best is when he reaches in to give me a kiss because he doesn't want to say the words "i'm sorry".
i am so lucky to be so blessed. these one on one times just melt my heart.
#1 fan

this past weekend brett played in the charlotte city amateur golf tournament and came in second!! go dad!! henry and i went out two times to cheer him on on sunday & we had so much fun. it was just like old times but this time i had a partner in crime with me :). henry loved watching daddy & actually stayed very quiet the whole time. of course we were loaded down with snacks, juice, books & bubby (paci) but it worked! brett was in the lead going into #17 but unfortunately had some trouble but still managed to par the last hole and come in second. but according to these next three pictures below i think he got the BEST prize of all in the end!!
