lucy's big news

the two kiddos on Christmas Eve.....are you wondering why the smile on lucy's face is so big and so cute?? probably because she had just told us she was going to be a BIG SISTER!!! who-hoo!!! our family got the best Christmas present ever! Carrie is about 9 weeks pregnant, due on July 28th and Lucy is just thrilled beyond words! she can't stop talking about the baby & what needs to be done to get ready for everything. her mind is just racing with ideas and questions.

carrie's parents had the whole family over for dinner that evening after church. before we began some presents for the kids they gave a toast to the season. at the end of the toast lucy told us she had an announcement & out came the news! everyone started screaming & jumping up and down and then of course henry started crying because it was "too loud".

we couldn't be happier for you two. what a great way to start the new year & how much fun that our kiddos will be so close in age again & even in the same school grade!! more good times to come! just think- next year will be quite different! grandma and grandpa's start getting your sleep because we are gonna need your help!!!

the family of soon to be FOUR

if we can get two to smile together how in the world will we ever get four?

uncle J pulled thru with some awesome sleeping bags!!! of course he made them go on a scavenger hunt in order to find them but that it made it all the more fun! princess bag for goose and mcqueen for hen

the cutest hats from steve & mary beth- they loved them!!

(in case you are wondering.....no henry did not wear the unc jersey to church :) ....my dad gave him this as his "sammy claus" present & it immediately was put on and worn all night and all the next day......he is a jersey lover)

new tradition

we started a new tradition this year & i think we are all very excited about it! carrie came up with the idea of all of us along with the cannady's and catanese family (since they are brother-sister combo like us & all the kiddos are friends) gathering together for Christmas eve breakfast. the one RULE....you must come in your pj's!!! it was sooo fun!!! we divided up the food duties, let the kids get the pre-santa wiggles out, decorated cupcakes for Jesus, and then ended the morning with a "everyone pile on brett" session! the morning was wild- lots of commotion and emotions flying everywhere (i think the cannady kids were the only ones who didn't cry) but it ended up being an awesome first time with many years to look forward to. we are so blessed to have such great friends with great families. enjoy the photos below- not too many were taken since it was crazy!

my child just licking the icing....but never touched the cupcake once it was on it

mr. mac showing he knows how to take down that cupcake the fastest of anyone- even if he is the youngest!

the beginning of the pile on brett session.....if i had posted all the photos you would notice my child is the one who is pretty much almost always on top!

christmas card outtakes

trying to get a good Christmas card photo with a 3 year old by yourself is quite the challenge!! Hen and i braved the freezing cold weather a few weekends ago & tried to get some shots for our card this year but it didn't quite work out! of course he was on the run pretty much the entire time, or sticking his tongue out of his mouth (this is all he does now when concentrating), throwing rocks, or giving me a smile with the worst "cheese" face you have ever seen!! i wanted to post a few of the pics to show our morning adventure. it was frustrating at the time but now as i look back i can't help but laugh because this is the best illustration of my favorite little man......he is made up of silly beans & lots of energy!! love you buddy!

couldn't stay still for the photo

this was one i liked but i just thought it was a little too serious for my wild man

this one is definitely a fav- he was saying "cheese fries please" (from outback)

------------------------------
But we decided to go with one from the summer....i think it shows off his contagious smile, curly locks, and it just wraps it up for the word FUN!

Merry Christmas everyone!

happy THREE to henry

last weekend, saturday to be exact, we had a day full of celebration for our little man turning three. it is so crazy that three years has already passed by. way too quickly in our eyes! we started the morning off with a breakfast date of pancakes & sausage (his favorite) & then came home to open up family presents. after the MANY presents were opened & enjoyed for a bit we took our last big step of the year & gave away our "bubbies" (pacis). henry has known for a few months that "big boys" or 3 years olds, don't use bubbies any more. henry decided that our new twin friends logan and cate really needed his bubbies so we packed them in a plastic bag & headed to the walters house! it took a few minutes while we were there to give up the bag, but thank goodness logan got a little fussy so henry could see that he really needed it! he has done very well without them- only asking for them a handful of times- but it will be interesting to see what he does when they come back out in 5 weeks for baby sister/brother :).

anyways- later in the day we took just a few friends to plaza fiesta and burned off some crazy energy. i think they all had a blast & were officially worn out when the night was over!

happy three little buddy! you are the sunshine of our lives!!

(by the way- the auburn jersey is worn at least once a week. he would wear it every day and sleep in it if i would let him. it tends to be "in the wash" quite often)

what more could you want when you are three and totally in love with lighting mcqueen? the cheesiest birthday cake i could find but he sure did love it!

"really, it's my turn to blow out the candle?"

watch out pga tour

a few months ago brett captured this footage of henry on the driving range hitting his driver 5 times in a row. we finally learned how to download it off his phone & onto the computer. let's just say we are pretty proud parents!
