Christmas Eve Brunch
We have had such a great two weeks celebrating the Christmas season. I am going to attempt to catch up on posting pics and videos. These pics are from a Christmas Eve Brunch that we went to at the Herberts. Such a fun tradition to start and the kids had a great time!
Sam House took Goose for a spin in Nell's Mustang...and then let her drive. What a gentleman.

christmas post
here are a few pictures from christmas eve and christmas day. i think carrie has some better ones so she can pull those out! we went to the 5:00 service on christmas eve and it was quite different then last year!! a year ago he slept through the entire service but this year it was a contest to see how much he could move & make us sweat. afterwards we all came back to our house and had dinner here......a new tradition that might be starting! for years- or for as long as i can remember- we have always gone to uncle steve's house for christmas eve dinner. we decided to change things up and i actually really liked it! it was fun to get the house decorated, set the table and pull out all of those fancy things that you never use on a day to day basis.
the next morning we headed to honey and samdaddy's for breakfast and gifts with the kids. we decided not to do gifts this year for the adults but mom was creative and pulled together a bag of things that were our favorites from growing up. in the last picture below you will see henry climbing the stairs with the superman cape- i think that was jeff''s from when he was little. mom had called brett's mom, carrie's mom and kayla's (jeff's girlfriend) mom to send a few things so it was cool to see everyones treasures and get some good laughs and stories.

christmas morning at our house: he was actually into tearing into the present....must have been the practice from the birthday festivities!

brett & stephen being silly with kayla.....yes, we all love each other very much!
christmas activities

ummm...not so sure about santa! i have another photo that the photographer took & it is so much better but it is on my work computer. brett's office had santa set up for an afternoon so henry and lucy headed over for a visit. lucy didn't make it to his lap but did get up close and personal with santa. as for henry- brett just threw him on santas lap & then 3 seconds later he realized he was in a strangers arms!

this is henry's friend charlie. they were so funny in this chair together. of course we were trying to get their picture with both of them looking at the camera but i think this shot is even better! looks like they are in total conversation!!

fun times in the front yard
first haircut

yes...it has been a long time since we have blogged! trying to catch up today so here we go.....we took henry to our friend lindsey to cut his hair for the first time. he did great! he wasn't quite sure about what she was doing but as long as he had his puffs & something to play with he didn't care. thanks linds for getting rid of the mullet that was forming!!

365 days of fun
let me just say that this should be my favorite post of these past few months of blogging but it has become my worst nightmare!! i have been working on this 365 day video of henry for the past two weeks. everytime i try to link it to the blog it won't work! i am so not computer literate even though i like to think i am but really- i am far from it! so anyways- enough about my griping but i just had to get it out & vent a little. not to mention- i wrote a little paragraph about this post the other night as a draft and then i was just going to come back the next day to work on posting the video....i thought i had saved it but i guess not because it was ALL gone! so, i will try again and i hope it will be just as good. :)
the past year has flown by so fast and has definitely been the best year in my life. before i had henry i always wondered why my friends with kids were so "obsessed" with their kids- i mean, it was in a good way- don't get me wrong- but i really didn't get it. i knew how much fun kids were- i loved Lucy like crazy & i loved being around kids but it really didn't hit me until that exact moment the nurse put henry in my arms for the first time. the emotion overflowed. two days later when we couldn't take him home from the hospital i had to get brett to make phone calls to our family about it all because i couldn't even speak i was so upset. the thought of anything happening to my new little buddy just overwhelmed me. i was not one to cry when i was pregnant or after when i got home with him- maybe because it all came out of me that day in the hospital! what i am trying to say is i TOTALLY understand why my friends are so "obsessed". i became obsessed at that very moment- 6:42 am november 27th 2007. every day he has brought us smiles & laughs. he makes me want to get out of bed in the morning even on those days when i am so exhausted!!!
my boss, cindy, was very sweet and gave me such a fun baby shower a few weeks before henry was born. when she mailed out the invitations she included a small piece of paper and had everyone right down a piece of advice for me. i will never ever forget what my mom wrote. it made me cry that day & it makes me cry every time i read it now. here is her two cents:
"Soon you will have someone else to love and you will know why i love you so much".
it is so true. i never knew how much my mom & dad have loved me until i had been blessed with henry. i am just thankful to the Lord for this beautiful gift that he has given us. he is a miracle and i am so excited to share his past year with you. enjoy the video.....i think it is kind of cute!
(click on the link below....once it comes up you might need to click on slideshow in order for it to start. i never could get it onto the blog- sorry about having to do the link. maybe one day i will be smart enough and figure it out!)
